Blackwells Outpost is an open-air gathering space and an early taste of what’s coming to Blackwells Corner, Hanahan’s first town center. Just across Yeamans Hall Road from the main site, it’s open for a limited time, right up until Blackwells Corner opens in fall 2027.
The Outpost is anchored by a food truck serving Untitled Pizza Co. + Mimi’s Soft Serve, with rotating chef pop-ups and community programming. With casual seating, shaded spots to gather, and open greenspace for live music + events, it’s an easy place to land and a preview of what’s ahead.
A wood-fired pizzeria from Chef Jalen Reeves. Everything is cooked over live fire, starting with pizzas built on Neapolitan dough and finished New York-style.
The menu keeps the classics on hand, alongside seasonal pies and small plates that put local ingredients to use.
A craft soft serve window built on a simple idea: nobody outgrows soft serve. It’s named for co-owner Jennifer Rinella’s grandmother, who wore heels every day until she was 90 and never lost her taste for vanilla.
The menu centers on Mimi’s Vanilla, made with Madagascar + Mexican vanilla and a touch of sea salt, and a chocolate that’s deep rather than sweet, with housemade dips and rotating toppings.

Blackwells is celebrating its very first Halloween, and costumes are encouraged. Everyone who comes dressed up on Saturday, October 31 will leave with a prize, whether they’re 5 or 55, while supplies last. The Outpost will be dressed up for the season too. Swing by before trick-or-treating, or make the Outpost the last stop of the night.
